Jacquelyn, Dexter and Fergus recently attended the South Eastern Circuit, Tim Dutton CBE KC, Advanced International Advocacy Course held at Keble College, Oxford between 26 and 30 August 2024.
It is an intensive 5-day programme which provides advanced training in all aspects of trial and appellate advocacy, spanning written submissions, expert and factual witness handling and oral submissions. Participants are put in small groups of 6-8, each supervised by 3 members of the distinguished faculty comprising Court of Appeal and High Court judges, leading silks and seasoned juniors from the UK and the common law world (including Parkside Chambers’ member, Jonathan Ah-Weng). The focussed training as well as the immediacy and quality of the trainers’ feedback were invaluable. Jacquelyn, Dexter and Fergus have gained immensely from the course.
Work aside, they have not forgotten to immerse themselves in the company of other brilliant advocates from all over the world against the backdrop of the glorious summer sun, making friends and broadening their horizons.
They would like to thank the Hong Kong Advocacy Training Council and the Charles Ching Memorial Scholarship for funding their attendance.
