The champagne flowed on Tuesday, 26th May at a celebratory dinner hosted by Parkside to toast Martin Wong SC’s recent elevation to Senior Counsel. A groundswell of support from Parkside’s current and former members turned out at the HK Jockey Club for Martin’s career pinnacle.
The highlight was a rousing and heartfelt speech delivered by Martin which included amusing anecdotes from his pupillage days and reverent nods to his former pupil master Nigel Kat SC. Martin recounted his inspiring and elemental journey from pupillage to Silk with grace and self deprecation. This was preceded by introductory remarks from Head of Chambers, Wayne Walsh SC and a short speech by Nigel Kat SC. Also in attendance were former members, including Secretary for Justice Paul Lam GBS, SBS SC, JP, The Honourable Mr Justice Anthony Chan JA, The Honourable Mr Justice Au-Yeung, Her Honour Judge Loh, Ms Eleanor Yeung and former Head of Chambers, Clive Grossman QC, SC.
The evening concluded with a delectable dinner and steady pours of champagne—a jubilant tribute to a standout advocate, mentor and colleague whose appointment to Silk marks not only a personal milestone but also a proud moment in Parkside’s history.
