On 9 May, Parkside Chambers’ Jacquelyn Ng delivered an engaging CPD presentation at Haldanes on the topic of Wills & Probate. There were about 40 guests in attendance in person and virtually.
The CPD talk was very well received and overviewed the legal aspects of will validity. Drawing on recent cases from 2023-2025, the presentation covered the burden or proof in probate cases, issues on testamentary capacity and best practices in relation thereto. The importance of contemporaneous notes and medical examination were reinforced.
The discussion also covered procedural aspects, including pleadings and the potential for expedited resolution (e.g. summary judgment and trial by affidavit) in probate cases.
A quick fire round of fascinating questions from the audience – with a side of a delicious lunch – wrapped up the session.
