Overview
Alex joined Parkside Chambers in 2026 after completing pupillage with Mr Marco Li Kwok Wai, Ms Deanna Law, Mr Derek J Y Chan, and Mr Joshua Chan.
Alex is developing a broad civil practice and accepts instructions in all areas of Chambers work. He has appeared in the High Court and the District Court, including as a led junior or as a sole advocate. He has gained experience in various areas including general commercial disputes, banking, companies and shareholders disputes, market misconduct, securities and regulation, civil fraud, asset recovery and injunctions, land, trusts and probate disputes, employment disputes, construction and arbitration, professional liability, competition disputes, public law, restitution of unjust enrichment, and conflict of laws.
Prior to commencing pupillage, Alex trained as a trainee solicitor in a full-service commercial law firm, and had experience in handling a wide range of contentious and non-contentious cases (including property and conveyancing, banking and finance, companies and directorships, insolvency and winding up, employment, fraud recovery, equity and trusts, wills and probate, privacy and data protection, competition, conflict of laws, shipping, charities, taxation, as well as equity financing, initial public offerings, and mergers and acquisitions).
Alex graduated with double First Class Honours, ranking 1st, from The University of Hong Kong on the Bachelor of Social Sciences (Government and Laws) and Bachelor of Laws Programme with a string of academic prizes and scholarships. He also spent a year as a visiting student at Hertford College, University of Oxford, obtaining firsts in all academic terms; before returning to Oxford (with New College) for the BCL and obtaining distinction in Advanced Property and Trusts.
Alex was an avid mooter at university. He was the Champion in the Blackstone Chambers Postgraduate Mooting Championship in 2022 (representing New College, University of Oxford), and the Champion in the Hong Kong Rounds of the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition in 2023 (representing The University of Hong Kong).
