While attending his private practice he has devoted significant time in serving the community in various capacities. He is the Chairman of the Staff Appeal Committee of the Hospital Authority (2015–present) and is a member of the Primary Healthcare Committee (2024–present).
He was the Chairman of the Process Review Panel for the Securities and Futures Commission (“SFC”) (2019–2024) and was a non– executive director of the SFC (Nov 2009–Nov 2015). He also served as a member of the SFC’s Takeovers and Mergers Panel, Takeovers Appeal Committee (2020–2024) and the Hong Kong Housing Society. In addition, he is a senior Fellow of the Hong Kong Securities and Investment Institute.
Lawrence also served as Chairman of the Hospital Governing Committee of Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital (Apr 2007–Mar 2017). Furthermore, he was a board member of the Hospital Authority (Apr 2005–Mar 2013) and a Member of Mainland Business Advisory Committee of Hong Kong Trade Development Council (2015–2019).
Apart from the above, he was the Vice Chairman and founding director of Bauhinia Foundation Research Centre, a policy think tank which focuses on Hong Kong’s long term competitiveness and socio economic well being.
