Overview

Raphael is a Bar Scholar. He joined Chambers in 2023 after completing his pupillage with Mr. Andrew Mak, Mr. Osmond Lam, Mr. Vincent Lung, and Mr. Ken To. He also served as marshal to the Hon. Mr. Justice Godfrey Lam (as G Lam JA then was), the Hon. Madam Justice Queeny Au-Yeung and Her Honour Judge Thelma Kwan.

Prior to commencing pupillage, Raphael obtained first class degrees in Social Sciences and Law at the University of Hong Kong. He then went on to obtain his BCL with Distinction from the University of Oxford as a Trinity College Michael and Judith Beloff Scholar, and was awarded the Trinity College Prize for BCL Performance.

Raphael is developing a broad practice and accepts instructions in all areas of Chambers' work. Raphael's practice is wide-ranging and adaptable, covering diverse areas such as commercial disputes, insolvency, companies and shareholder matters, land dispute, trusts, probate, injunctive relief, private international law, employment disputes, charity, discrimination suits, and family law. His bilingual proficiency in English and Chinese (both simplified and traditional) ensures he is adept at providing written submissions in both English and Chinese (both simplified and traditional), and conducting hearings in both languages. This enhances his appeal for cross-border and local clients alike, ensuring he can handle complex cases that involve multiple jurisdictions and languages.

Raphael has been admitted as a Fellow of the Hong Kong Institute of Arbitrators.

Raphael is teaching contract law as a part-time lecturer (non-clinical) at the Faculty of Law of the University of Hong Kong.
