Pupillage Applications
Parkside Chambers offers 3, 6 and 9-month pupillages to individuals with strong intellectual abilities and the potential to excel at the Bar. 9-month pupillages are offered to exceptional candidates who have demonstrated potential to be accepted as tenants.
What You Need to Know
Selection Criteria
All pupillage applicants are strongly encouraged to have completed at least one mini-pupillage with Parkside Chambers.
Our mini-pupillage program seeks to identify potential pupil candidates who possess a combination of qualities valued at Parkside Chambers. Whilst not exhaustive, they include the following:
- Academic and intellectual ability
- Clarity of expression in oral and written advocacy
- Ability to respond well under pressure
- Interest in and commitment to the type of work done by Chambers
- Ability to build positive rapport, and work well, with members of Chambers, solicitors, lay clients, staff and fellow pupils
- Determination, resilience and integrity

Important Dates for Pupillage Between September 2027 – August 2028
Completion of a 4-week assessed mini-pupillage (for 9-month pupillage applicants)
Apply for an assessed mini-pupillage by 31 March 2026 for the summer term in 2026 (or apply earlier for an earlier term).
Complete an assessed mini-pupillage before 30 September 2026.

Interviews
Shortlisted applicants will be invited for an interview with the Pupillage Committee. Interviews are held on a rolling basis, with offers being made shortly thereafter.
Invitations to interviews will be made by 15 October 2026.
