Wayne Walsh SC and Fergus Tam deliver timely CPD seminar at Haldanes

4 Aug 2025

Last week Parkside’s Wayne Walsh SC and Fergus Tam delivered a timely and thought-provoking CPD seminar at  Haldanes moderated by Jonathan Midgley.

The discussion unpacked the historical evolution and current extradition arrangements in Hong Kong.

Wayne capitalised on decades of experience to provide a sharp and incisive analysis of Hong Kong’s extradition framework pre- and post-1997 and the effects of the 2019 Extradition Bill. He provided insights into the real-world complexities practitioners now face, including Interpol Red Notices.

Fergus leveraged his growing reputation in cross-border disputes and complemented the discussion with insights into the applicable jurisprudence forming the backdrop to the suspension of bilateral agreements.

A lively Q&A followed, where attendees explored the boundaries of international cooperation, enforcement trends, and the practical constraints of operating within a rapidly evolving legal environment.

The event concluded with a brief commentary from Robert Wyld of Johnson Winter & Slattery where he shared insights from his latest book Bribery, Corruption and Sanctions Laws in Australia.

Parkside’s Benson Tsoi SC and Jeffrey Li  joined the networking drinks which wrapped up the evening at Haldanes on Friday night.
