Last Friday, 7 March, Parkside Chambers had the pleasure of hosting an intimate cocktail reception in celebration of Simon Young’s appointment as the Ian Davies Professor in Ethics by the Faculty of Law at The University of Hong Kong (HKU.)

This Endowed Professorship is one of the most prestigious academic honours within HKU, recognising outstanding contributions to research and scholarship.

Parkside was delighted to mark this milestone with Simon and raise a glass to commemorate this.

The evening brought together around 30 attendees, comprising numerous members of Chambers and distinguished guests from HKU, including:

🔹Dr. Gordon Chiu, representative of the donor
🔹Professor Peng Gong, Vice-President (Academic Development), HKU
🔹Professor Michael Ng, Associate Dean (Research), Faculty of Law, HKU
🔹Professor Bernadette Tsui Department of Social Work and Social Administration, HKU
🔹Agnes Ip Faculty Secretary, Faculty of Law, HKU
🔹 Shirley Lo, Development & Alumni Affairs, HKU

Parkside’s Head of Chambers, Wayne Walsh SC, opened the evening with a warm welcome before Simon took the floor. Simon delivered an engaging and humble speech, sharing reflections on his new role and a few colourful anecdotes from his tenure so far.

Lively conversation, champagne, and delicious canapés made for a wonderful evening that carried on well into the night.

Congratulations again to Simon on this well-deserved honour.
